I've been in touch with them and they said they pay the Award. What that is, I'm not sure but as a guess, around $30K?

..and if you don't mind me jumping in on your thread ..

Does SFC provide accommodation like China Southern do (albeit at subsidized rates)?

around $30K
Wow ,that would explain why there is an Instructor shortage... I sincerely hope they are paying more than that....

I am pretty sure the award is closer to 40k than 30. Depends on what quals you have and what flying they have you doing.

Pay Rates

I can confirm they pay award so it depends on your qualifications

They dont give anything for accomodation unless its changed lately. I believe they dont employ grade 3 Instructors. (Unless they have changed recently) And you must have IFR training approval or be willing to get it within a month or so of starting. 5 ish years ago as Grade 1 ME IFR I was on around 42k, it will be around 35k for grade 2 with IFR approval, but again that was 5 years ago? Maybe its up a little since then. +10% or so I dont know. PM me if you are interested to know more about te company I used to work there.

You can get the whole award at www.afap.org.au. I got a job elsewhere but they were more than happy to talk to me as a gde 3 with 150 instructing time and no IFR rating. They don't provide accom (I think) and China Southern only organise accomodation out at Merredin, not in Perth.

SFC pays award plus bonuses

O and G,

SFC pays award plus annual profit bonus. This years bonus for all instructors was between 4.8 - 5.8 months (pro rata) and 7.1 months bonus for high achievers.

Last year's was 2-2.5 months bonus.

Not bad is it!

When Singapore Airlins makes a good profit, SFC benefits. Each year the college shares the annual profit among its employees.

What other flying school in Australia will pay out up to 6 months bonus to instructors?

Those bonus payment sound really good although I doubt that will attract new instructors and current instructors to stay in the industry when the pay is in the order of 30k - 40k after spending thousands of dollars in getting qualified!

TT you're right about that. These companies will soon be subsidising instructor ratings and upgrades just to get attract more pilots.

If the wage is still around the 35-40k mark and you are not from Perth check out the accomodation scene before you make a decision as well.

Definitely no Instructor Cadetship program for the foreseeable future. This comes from a meeting I had with the company about 6 mos ago and a follow-up conversation about 5 weeks ago.

Thumbs down

Cadet Instructor - that's an oxymoron if ever there was one. The inexperienced teaching the inexperienced.

"Cadet Instructor" - You couldn't make this stuff up. Imagine a nursing student rocking up for the first day of class and the fresh faced graduate from last year is there to teach the ropes.
