CASA FEE for Class 2 Medical
I have just had my Class 2 Medical renewed by my DAME. I have paid his fee. What about the CASA fee? How do I pay that?
Do CASA bill me separately? I have had my Medical signed off by the DAME. I assume I am able to legally fly now with that. How is the CASA fee charged? This is the first time I have had to pay any fee to CASA.

Here's the CASA form stating so. Didn't the cost go down from $130 as of June this year?

Will be intereseting to see how long it takes for the process. Thanks all for the help.

I just took my initial class 2 medical, and it was around the $200 mark. plus paying the $75 dollar fee to casa.
Why do we pay the casa fee, if the DAME deems you fit to fly, whats the point of paying casa $75? does anyone know what they do, like do they check through the applicants medical records, or hospital records?

Recently done a Class 2, with 4 posts, here, such wisdom beyond his/her years, why indeed?

RNQ,
For $75, CASA send you a pretty piece of paper that tells you when your medical expires. It is perforated so that you can split it into smaller pieces and insert the right bit into your licence folder.
If you're lucky, they won't lose it and charge you $25 for a replacement.
Excellent value really???
The bit that got me was paying the DAME for the drug and alcohol test and then getting hit up again for the same thing by the pathology lab. Managed to get a 30% discount from the path lab for querying the extra bill.
Let's face it, were just cash cows to these people. Good thing we enjoy the flying eh?

Appears to me CASA don't trust the DAME they authorised to perform the medical in the first place. Why would they need to process the medical anyway? To gather more and more personal data? It should suffice to have the DAME issue the medical and that's it! Admin blowing out of proportion - my DAME spent most of the time of the examination entering the details in the computer.... but, CASA are not the only ones, CAA UK and other European aviation authorities do the same.
By the same token, why do we have to pay both ASL as well as CASA a fee for sitting an exam?
In addition to large increases in the cost of actual flying, all of these admin cost just contribute to making aviation less and less viable for more and more people.

Someone has to fund the budget deficit and keep far too many public servants employed. This week it is your turn!
