3 engine Dash 8

Anyone else seen the 3-engined Dash 8 operating in north Qld. Has a third engine on the nose!

Damn-it, I was too slow with the phone camera to get a piccy!

Bendo

I swear to you that a Dash 8 taxied past me today with both of its wing mounted engines turning and sticking out the front of its nose was another propulsion device on the end of a pole. Was a square looking white thing on its own four wheels and a third pilot was seated in it and appearred to be operating it. I assume he was co-ordinating with the tech crew in the aeroplane.

Unfortunately I didn't see it take off!

Don't know if it just sling-shots the Dash 8 off the runway like a Cat launch on an aircraft carrier, or if it somehow folds up into the belly of the Dash 8.

Strangest thing!

Apparently it is not allowed to taxi from the Palm Is terminal in the GA area at TL.

So they start it up and get towed to the taxiway!

I didn't hang around to see it come back in. I assume they tow it in.
