NZ MEIR vs AUS CIR

Hi there,

I was thinking of converting my licenses to ausy ones along with my NZ IR. I was told that rules and procedures were significantly different in Aus in terms of IFR procedures. Can anyone who has done this conversion tell me how they found adapting to the new procedures, i.e how many flights they/you had to do, if any, to get used to procedures etc. Genuine help pls.

This probably isn't much use to you, but I did it 25 yrs ago.

The procedures then were very similar. NZ was, at the time, closer to ICAO than Oz.

Did the IR exam and the equivalent of an initial issue ride with an ATO.

No big deal. I suspect it is simpler today than in 1986.

Someone in here will be able to give you the good oil.

no worries

hey mate,
yeah so i converted my nz over to ozzy about a year ago now, have done all my atpls there and got my oz atpl now, did a ifr renewal there and it was all reasonable simlar, if you read up in the oz aip that will set you straight, a few differences in nominating alternates etc and a few other basics, but essentially its similar to nz. as far as flight test for ifr renewal, its all the same really, but if you go to a flight school there you would pick it all up pretty quick if you are ifr current.
if you need more pm me
cheers
