I am sure it would be a great job and a chance to make a difference with GA in the NT.
Pity, just struggle with trying to to call Darwin home.

Darwin

In the not too distant future, Darwin will be Australia's most important city, and if the rest of the country ignores it, it will become part of Asia. (maybe it is now)

Ladies and Gents,

Now that bids are closed I can release the 'non-official' or office copy of the selection criteria as supplied by Lord Farqwad himself......

OK. It fell out of his bag....

SECTION 5 – SELECTION CRITERIA

5.1 Qualifications and/or Experience
Mandatory
Possession of a current Air Transport Pilot Licence (aeroplane) with a current Command (multi engine aeroplane) Instrument Rating and a current Class 1 Medical certificate. Only superficial industry experience required. No tropical or 'Top End' experience with local industry preferred. No 'big' aeroplane endorsement is required as this will be provided to you at taxpayers expense (you have a choice between B1900, Dornier and Metro). You will be then termed 'specialist' or 'expert' on that aircraft or operation;
And, either
a current Grade 1 Flight Instructor (aeroplane) Rating or
current or former Flying Operations Inspector from the CASA Service Centre and
enjoy gladiator movies and Jamie Redfern songs.

Non-Desirables
Preference will not be given to applicants who consider themselves 'Military equivalents'.
Bruce Byron's old RAAF mates need not apply. You are not welcome in Fortress Darwin.
Others not welcome
• Have extensive recent experience as a check pilot in a CAR 217 training and checking organisation involving the use of CASA delegations for the renewal of Command Instrument Ratings
• Hold both fixed-wing and rotary-wing pilot licences
These far exceed the incumbent FOI qualifications and experience and they may feel inadequate or threatened.

5.2 Contributes to strategic thinking
• Demonstrated ability to scheme, plan and program to effectively undermine corporate goals (both CASAs and Industry).
• Considers the ramifications of issues and the longer-term impact of their own work and work area and be amused or derive some sick satisfaction from it.
• Gathers and investigates information from a variety of sources including Pprune, explores differing viewpoints and is able to trivialise or misrepresent that information to CASA management and identifies any critical gaps and retrospectively alter or destroy records if required to remedy that gap.

5.3 Achieves results
• Remains inflexible and irresponsive to changes in requirements.
• Resents specialist expertise and capitalises on the expert skills and knowledge of others by calling it their own.
• Contributes their own perceived expertise to achieve awkward silences, embarrassed responses and questions required to be taken on notice for the Branch and CASA at Senate Estimates hearings.
• Sees projects through to a protracted, needlessly expensive completion, or the financial ruin of the industry operator or the FOIs retirement: establishes plans and timeframes for project implementation, outlining specific activities for the industry operator and then adjusting stress leave, annual leave, personal leave, training days as required to ensure maximum disruption.
• Commits to achieving quality negative outcomes, ensuring documentation and procedures are ignored, misrepresented, altered or destroyed and feedback is obtained from all relevant sources supporting the outcome.

5.4 Cultivates productive working relationships
• Builds and sustains relationships with a network of like minded morally and ethically bankrupt people internally and externally.
• Appear to work collaboratively with others, while recognising the different working styles of individuals, sees issues from different perspectives and is able to effectively ignore both and undermine those members of the team on an opportunistic basis.
• Demonstrated capacity to appear to work as part of a team or individually until the next executive layer is installed or reformed.

5.5 Exemplifies personal drive and integrity
• Adopts a superficial veneer resembling the CASA Values and Code of Conduct when in the presence of visiting management from Brisbane or Canberra.
• Challenges perceived assaults on professional credibility by industry with long periods of silence and delay on regulatory applications, vigorous ramp checks and anonymous threats (delivered by a third party).
• Hides mistakes and learns from them, seeking guidance and advice when required.
• Abrogates personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work. Persists and focuses on achieving personal agendas, even in difficult circumstances such as internal investigation.

5.6 Communicates with influence

• Demonstrated aggressive interpersonal, oral and poor written communication skills, including the ability to obfuscate at a senior level to weak minded or non-technical minded management, with other areas of the Authority, external organisations and the general public
• Experience and ability to deceive effectively and creatively interpose or represent personal opinion as legislation in a complex technical environment.

Tinnie,

Lunch allowances are not required. The office is closed for BBQ lunches from 1200 to 1630 to provide ample opportunity to gloat on the morning's bastardry and plan for tomorrows.

All dietary requirements are catered for at taxpayers expense however I believe 'humble pie' and 'just desserts' do not feature.

Oh, the Irony!!

Indeed Justin, a very humourous post!!

However as many fellow Ppruners are aware, many a true word is spoken in jest!! And there just perhaps might be more than a grain of truth in that one!
