QF Cadetship...next stage!

Hi Guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone has been phoned to go to Mascot for Skills Assessment, Psychometric Assessment etc testing? I have'nt heard anything yet and hence starting to doubt the success of my App.

Cheers, PA

early days

Don't worry yourself too much. I applied a few years ago in July, got the call up in Sep, did the skills etc then waited another 4 weeks for the second call up. When I bombed the interview I was told within days. No news is good news........

Qantas hasn't had a chance to review any Cadet applications just yet. People should start getting called up very soon though!

What I'd like to know is how many have applied. It would be interesting to see if QF have been successful in pitching this to the younger QF wannabes. Perhaps even more interesting would be the breakdown of applicants - ie - how many commercial applicants (and how many of them for each of the three courses next year), associate deg applicants and how many bachelor deg applicants there are? How many apps did they used to get? How many do they have this year? How many cadets are they going to take? I heard about 100. But how many for each course?

I'd just love to know how its all gonna work. Sounds like things are getting a little messy for the recruitment team! Can't blame them, they must be flat out.

Good luck to all the guys who are giving it a go

I haven't heard anything either and i applied a good 8 weeks ago. I reckon their trying to get as many applications in as they can, and then start inviting people in from there. But no news is good news, I reckon it means your being considered.

Very interesting to note that QF (very quietly) pushed back the closing date on the first Commercial course from 14SEP07 to 30SEP07. What does one gather from that? Not much interest? OR Not enough time for QF to get things organised? I would assume that latter.

Are you referring to the invite for the Skills and Psychometric testing?

There has been testing since the beginning of October and right through November for the Stage 2 tests in Mascot, Sydney.

Qantas began Stage 2 testing in mid-late September, and Stage 3 interviews have been taking place for the last couple of weeks. Don't let this discourage you however, as of late September, they had only called (read emailed, everything is via email this year) 30 people and had over 400 applications. So it's slow going. Things are really starting to pick up now though, so you never know. Furthermore, they are not doing anything in any particular order, ie commercial autum/winter or associate/bachelor degrees. I'm sure there is some logic to the whole process!

Keep holding your breath. Good luck.

OhForSure: you said they are processing commercial autumn/winter apps? I was under the impression that applications for commercial winter isn't open yet, altho the schedule says it should be, I can't see any way of applying for that intake.

Are they overwhelmed with apps for commercial program that they are combining the two and allocating candidates to either the autumn and winter commercial program?

AJ: My apologies. Disregard my mentioning of the winter* program. That wasn't what I had intended to say. Unsure of whether or not they are accepting apps for that program yet.
