Failing Exams..
They say only a poor workman blames his tools, but a mislabelled ruler caused me to fail PPL Nav 4 times after acing all the other exams. After a fellow pilot realised what the problem was, I borrowed his ruler and passed the test.
You always have the option of sitting the seven CPL exams instead of the single PPL exam. It will take you longer, but it lets you direct and focus your study a little easier.
I understand you can bypass the whole PPL stage and go straight into commercial training without a PPL however does passing the CPL examinations constitute an equivalent for the PPL examination enabling you to sit the PPL flight test after you meet the minimum dual/command requirements?

Old thread, but good advice. Failed Geography in High School, but passed Nav in Cpl and Sen.Cpl and I.Rating exams first up. Go figure..
Failed Sen.Cpl Flight Planning first up while on leave, went back to work and didn't crash during the next two years on single pilot turbine ops. before I had the opportunity to reset the exam again in Aus. Didn't finish the last question on the paper, and was sure I had failed again when I left the room. Was REALLY surprised when Mum rang after opening the result slip to say it was a pass. Must have got 100% for what I did do..
Got the Aus. ATPL much later when the Reg.s changed.
Never give up.. If you want it enough..
