Rip Jl

John was an absolute champion, Grade 3 and 2 tests, and initial IFR test. Often made you feel so comfortable on a test due to the fact you thought he was sleeping until he'd make a comment regarding an error that needed to be addressed... Many a beer shared with after a long day and a true gentleman to spend time with.. Sadly Missed

It was an honour and a privilege for me to have known John Lindsay and to have mixed with him for over 25 years. Sadly I was flying in South Australia and not able to attend his funeral.

John had a way of imparting his knowledge, his manner and the very essence of his character in the softest gentlest way possible. He was true gentleman and although he never examined me, I learned a lot from being around John Lindsay.

I salute you John Lindsay, and all that you stood for during your time in aviation. You were an inspirational role model; the like of which may never be seen again.

JL was truly a gentleman, with much to pass onto us young people climbing the aviaiton ladder.

Was tested by JL for GFPT, CPL and Initial CIR. Didnt really feel like a test the way he made you relax throughout. Also had the priviledge to work under him also.

Learnt much of what I know today from this dedicated person.

RIP JL. True aviaiton hero!

'you won't do that again'

I was lucky enough to do my PPL test with JL.

After preflighting and planning and eagerly awaiting the test we climbed into the flash 172. Started up, after start checks completed, went to taxi and nothing. Staionary, more power, still staionary, even more power and still nothing. I turned to JL in horror and asked if the tail was still tied down. He replied with much grace "It sure is but now that you've done it once, especially on a test, you won't ever do it again." Too right mate.
