Question Mount Cook Airline looking at Dash8-400

Speaking to some reliable contacts in Canada recently, they have seen the Mount Cook Training manager up there looking at/assessing Dash8-400 - I thought Air Nelson had ordered them

I can't see the new local ATR office letting that go without a fight!

Umm doubt it. NM people are in Canada doing the acceptance on the ATR 'SIM' so probably just being nosey rather than proactive.

The Q400- Air NZ has the options not Nelson... but what are the chances of Nelson management using them as a carrot for this round of negotiations?

Im not part of the inner workings at Cook but IF they were to ever get them would be surprised if an announcement was made withing the next 5 years, havnt they not long ago only picked up a couple more 72-500's? Sounds more like a carrot or wishfull thinking me thinks.

As kmagyoyo has said, the Q400 options have nothing to do with Air Nelson in particular. It's no secret that Mount Cook have considered the Q400 along side the new (yet to be built) ATR for their fleet replacement, which I might add is in the distant future. It looks to be all but a forgone conclusion that the ATR will win out.
