G'day,

I'm thinking of applying to Jetcraft and was wondering whats it like to work for them?

How is the maintenance on the aircraf?
What is it like doing night freight?
What is the training like?

I can’t comment on the current situation but I left them back in 2004. Back then the aircraft were maintained well, being Metro's though they were all getting fairly long in the tooth as they all are now! With the ATR's now in the equation to go directly onto the 42 as an F/O (not sure about bond etc?) may be the way to go. This coupled with the nature of the industry @ the moment I would not expect it to be to long for a transition from the right to left seat. Doing night freight continuously over time eventually does your brain in. I certainly enjoyed my days of single pilot night freight in a Metro but I was also VERY glad when my day came step on. Good experience, just not for the long haul. Training wise they now utilise the old Ansett metro sim down @ Melbourne (which we never had access too), so at least now you can put into practice what you rope learn etc. At the end of the day the company as a whole is not to bad, its good experience to have and with the nature of today’s environment as volatile as it is, if you found your self with Jetcraft you are in a excellent situation for hopefully a quick transition to the next level.

What sort of hours are they looking at?

Anyone know what sort of hours they require before Jet craft give you a look in?

Jetcraft´s minimum requirements for flight crew applicants are set out below:

Flying Hours
1500 hours including 500 hours multi-engine command
or
1000 hours total time including 500hrs turbine and/or 500hrs multi-engine time and
75 hours night experience
75 hours instrument flight experience

Licensing
Current Australian Commercial Pilots License
Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) prefferred though not compulsory

Endorsements/Qualifications
Multi-engine command instrument rating
Current dangerous good awareness certificate

Medical
Current CASA Class One medical

Security
Ability to hold an Aviation Security Identifiation Card (ASIC)

Would I be correct in reading that there has been a slight shift away from the mandatory 500 multi? The way I read the above it would appear now that if one has over 500 SET time the 500 multi requirement doesn't apply?

Interesting... Some have been looking for this type of change for a long time.

Jetcraft also run a fleet of caravans - those with just the min req's, will find themselves in one of these, until they show themselves to be reliable, capable and likeable enough to take on something more complex.

Hence the requirements.

For What Its Worth

I dont and never have worked for J/Craft, but from what i've heard from other people in the know, there is 1 or 2 C441s @ AF. The majority of the C208s are in BK, but reserved for the less experienced applicants. I cant define "less experienced".

The company is rich with cadet graduates for the next few years, so if you apply and meet the requirements, command is not very far away.

Not gospel, just what i've heard. Best of luck to all applicants.
