Basic Aeronautical Knowledge: Instruction Resources

G'day,

I was hoping to get any recommendations that anyone might have for useful instruction resources for teaching the BAK theory course.

I am looking at running a course for the Cadets at Parafield Squadron and the other Squadrons of the Australian Air League in South Australia - with the assistance of two of the other Instructors who are both pilots however it has been many yrs since they completed their BAK.

The Australian Air League is a non-profit youth organisation which the main aim of promoting interest of aviation in the youth of Australia. Our national website is located at: http://www.airleague.com.au

Our primary concern of the BAK theory course is too keep the cost for the Cadets down as low as possible - the only costs should be for the loan of resources and study manuals, photocopying and the cost associated with sitting the three written exams through a flying school we are associated with. All instruction will be provided free of charge to the cadets - which will hopefully save them a few dollars which they can put towards engine time when they do their flying training.

The Australian Air League, on a nation level, has an agreement with TAFE WA to use their BAK training material including photocopying where necessary - which we will be definitely making use of where necessary to save costs for the Cadets!

However I would also love to hear any suggestions if anyone has knows of any useful websites, recommended study guides or books, CASA publications - or has any power point presentations, notes, diagrams, charts, sample questions/exams or any other resource that could be useful for instructing.

Also if you have any second hand BAK training manuals you no longer need and are looking to sell them - we will need to get a couple of copies especially of the Bob Tait BAK study guide.

Also we are always looking for donations of old aviation charts and maps from pilots in SA - as we run a practical Flight Simulator course and these are always handy for nav exercises.

Thanks for the link. There are some pretty good training material there - looking at the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge PDF and there are some excellent descriptions and diagrams for the aerodynamics which is almost identical (if not clearer) than the study guides available in Australia (which you have to buy at a $$price). Obviously air law would differ in the US but things like aerodynamics and engine systems is exactly the same (unless wings and piston engines work different in the US )

Also we can photocopy this material as its freely available on the net - which is always good at saving costs!

If anyone else knows of any downloadable videos useful for BAK/GFPT theory please let me know! I am looking especially for videos which cover aerodynamics, cockpit instruments and circuits.
