"You should be using your departure QNH for the first 100NM"
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you did not mean to treat me like a F*ckwit!
It takes me 100 nm to catch up with the Bo! Then I get bored and start thinking about thinks like QNH to pass the time of day!
What about the next 100 nm, and the next 100 nm, and the next 100 nm, and the next 100 nm ........ nah, I need to stop for a pee about then!
To quote the site you referred me to:
"Significantly, the FAA publications distinguish between VFR and IFR aircraft operations with ATC providing IFR aircraft a QNH at least once while the aircraft is in the controller's area. Will we follow this practice in Australia?
Yes. The existing practice of ATS providing the QNH or area QNH to IFR aircraft will continue"
What crap! I rarely get given the QNH unless I ask for it.
I can't see that giving me the QNH when I change area frequencies can possibly clutter up anything!
On change of area frequency:
ME: Centre, XXX maintaining 10 thousand
Centre: XXX, Brisbane Centre (and I suggest they should add "QNH 10whatever")

I haven't flown a VH aeroplane in Oz for many, many years. I have, however, flown foreign registered aircraft in and out on numerous occasions. I know what ICAO requires in R/T and I've used that all the time because that works in most other places on the planet... in one form or another.
The Oz ATCOs seems to recognise the difference when they hear me using ICAO terminology and readbacks, so I've hardly ever had a problem. Maybe it's just that CNS ATCOs know how to treat us "foreigners" eh?
My experience of dealing with ATCOs over the R/T is that they seem to be up to speed with ICAO but, maybe, they get confused when dealing with domestic ops that have to fully comply with the AIP.. whatever that means. Maybe it means not being strictly in conformance with ICAO?
Or maybe I should also comply with the Oz AIP as well?
In any case, I've never had cause to complain about them and, to my knowledge, they haven't had cause to complain about me. Maybe we're just all confused?

Wasn't having a go at you - sorry you saw it that way. I was having a go at the wonderful change that NAS brought us and posted a link as you said you were having trouble keeping up with change. I agree with the saying - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
