Aus ATPL and Permanent Residency

Hello All

I am looking to start a 2 year ATPL training course soon in Sydney. I am a UK citizen who is currently working here on a 457 visa, I will be getting a student visa to be able to do the ATPL training but would like to know if anyone out there (with non Aus citizenship) has gone on to get perm residency in Australia?

As far as I know if you undertake 2 years further education here you can apply for perm residency but in most cases you need to be working in a profession that is on the Aus immigration list, pilots/flying instructors do not seem to always be on that list.

Has anyone done it, any help much appreciated!

Thanks
