VH-CWS

This reg is now on the Classic Wings DC3 at Perth but I had it on a Jandakot based PA32 which was N632HJ when I imported it in to Oz in 1989.
So can Australian registrations be re-used and what happened to the original VH-CWS?

Anyone got any suggestions on how to disvover if my old bird is still flying. As I said it was registered in Perth as VH-CWS in 1989 and prior to that carried the US reg N632HJ. A 1977 PA32-300 low tail Lance.

If you know the aircraft's manufacturers serial number you could search the CASA register at http://www.casa.gov.au/casadata/regsearch/findairs.asp

I'm fairly sure CWS got sold overseas in the late 90's.

I seem to recall a ferry flight going from Adelaide via somewhere in NSW to New Zealand.

Hope that helps!

hmmm... seems I vaguely recall one of the Pionair (NZCH) Dakota's being registered CWS, if memory serves. Will see what I can find out!

EDIT: nope, ZK-CWS is a PA28-161, has been since 1971. Sorry for the bum steer. That reg for whatever reason does bring a Dak to mind though... will have a look at some old pix

Have a look at these two links for a short history of the regos of the aircraft you have mentioned.

I have seen a photo without the classicwings tittles and also the black swan up the front, however the name "Katherine" is still on the aircraft at this stage. Anyone know when it is going to auction?
