Alice Springs Aviation.

What is the job situation in Alice Springs? I have sent out many CV’s without any response. What’s the chance of a 25 year old with a Gr.2 and a MECIR picking up a charter or instructing position, with only 750 hours.

Alice.

Howard Hughes, I already have a full time job instructing with some charter flying, however I would like to move into the charter field. So the idea of just resigning from a full time job and going up on spec does not seem too smart,I would rather keep flying than move up there and hang around on the off chance of something happening soon, that’s why the query.

Bushy

I have all the phone numbers. I was hoping you would have been a bit more help, but thanks anyway. Does anybody know what the situation is like in Darwin?

Doesn't have to be 'on spec', you could do it in your holidays...

This does two things, it puts a name to the resume and you will also find out if you like in the NT, it ain't for everybody, especially some wives, girlfriends, partners!

Brown Eyes,

Darwin is a happening place....if you want:

Above award Salary
Great team environment
very fast progression

call Direct Air. No one else can come close. Not one other firm provided these conditions......usually all the others provide an illusion.

Mutton dressed up as Lamb one might say........and even then they struggle.......

LUVJET you are a F$%^ing IDIOT.
Everyone knows everyone esle`s term and conditions in Darwin, so I wouldn`t be sprouting the type of bulls%^t you are. And as for team environment, I met a fruit cake who used to work for you not long ago and, didn`t have one nice thing to say about the company or the people! And you know alot for a guy who claims to not even be from here.
If you want to offer advice you could have just said your companies name or stick it in a PM, all you have tried to do is start another s%$t fight like some of your previous posts!
Your advice be more than helpful on the: climbing the greasy pole, thread.

Metrosmoker,

If it makes you feel better using abusive language, go right a head ...in fact knock you self out.

The post was made as a result of fact......i challenge you to name one employer in the piston segment of darwin aviation that has all staff on salary.....(we are talking many staff not just one or two) and also challenge you to advise where the progression from 210 to 402 c is very fast ..simply due to vast volumes of hours to be flown.

So , you can carry on all you like, to no avail , this clearly indiciative of the bitter and twisted individual you are, but lets stick to the facts.....

All that consider moving to Darwin for work , fax your resume to Direct Air, as you your path to progression is guranteed.

AND metro smoker thanks for helping me prove my original point , with your un neccessary out burst.

As much as i am tempted to retaliate with similar language, i will not.....and at the end of the day that is the difference between you and i.

good luck .....metro..................... smoker.

There are many differences between you and I numb nuts, none that I would be proud of from your point of view. But let me get this straight, you are now not only claiming that everyone of your pilots is on full time award wage, and your company also does the most hours in Darwin out of everyone else? I wait for the inevitable reply from you and your band of merry followers, probably along the lines that you don`t work for the mentioned company but.... a chance to post more self praising claims. Oh and there is more to life and flying then A 402C. Even Air Frontier have a bigger aircraft than you! In fact everyone up here does!
What happened to your 421B, I think it was ASE pressurised aircraft to much for you guys to handle?

Proof in the pudding

To the original poster, I would suggest to call the local operators for a chance at employment in Alice. There are a few there but unfortunately for Luvjet, look at the last 12 month trend, Direct are on a rapid decline and aren't far from pulling out. For stable employment, look who has done well and look who hasn't. It is not difficult to cut through all the rubbish posted here.
As far as Darwin goes, a bit hit and miss. It seems to be whoever charges the lowest gets the short term work, regardless of flasshy lounges etc. Longgevity in this region will come down to long term stability in the region and a wider company stability, something I don't personally believe Direct can uphold on either front. However at the end of the day it is your choice and as long as you can achieve what you want from the operator then good luck to you.

Browneyes - Don't know where natbanger gets his info from, but he is wildly incorrect.

As you have probably guessed, there is a lot of politics (some warranted) in DN. I suggest that you do your homework, and you will see for yourself the real situation.

Brown Eyes,

Mate just jump in the car and do it. You can stay in the city all you want and think about what is better. At the end of the day if you want some charter experience there is more in the top end. Be it NT, QLD, WA, etc.

Sending CV's and calling from a city usually does not help. Most jobs go to guys who are there. Trust me

How old are you? Will it impact your career to much if you spend 6 months looking for a charter job? I think a previous poster said wait till you have a ferw more hrs, good idea. I know that some GA charter companies look favorably on instructor ratings. It wont get used initially but in time you can land a training position in these organisations.

If it all goes to **** what have you lost in trying.....6 months and a few bucks. There is plenty more instructor jobs out there if you need another one later.

brown eyes,

pm me, I know of another place that may be able to use your skills, and unless you are set on going to NT, they may be interested in you. Won't hurt to try them, even if just for the exercise to see if your skills suit other operators. Maybe not "The Alice", but warm anyway.
