Management Mastery

With QANTAS about to be taken over by Gordon Gekko I thought it might be amusing for people to give examples of the classic beancounter/manager stories. Things that the no experience clown brigade have done that destroy companies. Only airlines please, there are too many GA ones and they belong elsewhere. No names due to liability issues.

I thought I'd kick it off with a company I worked for that invested way too much money developing a whizbang rostering system that worked fine until you checked your times and realised that you didn't turn into a pumkin after several breaches. You then had to double up on your paperwork, still manually checking and after 3 versions it still allowed breaches and was still costing a heap of money that used to go into our pockets. I remember telling senior managers that I was in breach only to be told I wasn't coz the system said so.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the QF A330-200's that can't take Jclass Skybeds, due to the floor stength. The -200 has longer legs and QF opted to have that fly the domestic runs.

Also the B747-300 fleet avionics upgrade and IFE upgrade. Since the upgarde there is only about 1/2 of them flying, if that.
