Australia..First Jobs?
I understand INXS's frustration. We have more than enough unemployed pilots in Australia to last 3 life times, so we could do with zero coming from overseas.
However having said that, everyone is entitled to a fair go. I think the industry is better of for it as it makes it more competative with better quality pilots coming through, whether they are Ozzie or NZ.
We are also only looking at the situation from the point of view of an Ozzie. Lets try see it from the eyes of our nieghbours. They to have caught the bug of aviation, like you and I. Is it there fault that their country isnt set up where there are numerous charter companies to get your foot in the door. Given the option, I am sure they would much prefer to stay at home with their families instead of moving to a different country.
As a by the way, I know about 12 Kiwis, having worked with 2. Of the 2, one of them was a bit of a To$$er, however the other was/still is the nicest bloke you could ever meet. He is a pleasure to be around, a hard worker, great pilot and will do anything for you. The rest of the Kiwi's I know I can not say a bad thing about... well its not entirely true - they cant say Fush and Chups correctly!
So to get back to the original question - mate come on over and as death made simple said, propbably the best place to get your first job would be in the hot kimberley and once you do finsh flying up there, you can go back home and show off your tan that you will get.

Hey INXS you're so right! I was one of those Kiwis that came over took a job, gained the necessary experienced and have buggered back off to Kiwiland. I loved my time in Aussie, I loved the beer the weather and your women I even enjoyed my time on the rock n roll.
Hey BLUE DISCO there are Aussies working with us in Air NZ so throw in an application if you're keen to fly for us. But with your beliefs don't expect to get thru the interview stage. I was told when i had my interview the requirement was to loose the Aussie accent
With my time in Aussie I had to convince many an operator that cos I trained in NZ, I could fly and navigate an aircraft. There are hurdles every where. Take them in your stride and good luck if you go to Oz.
