Will be there with bells on... just don't make it too close to the

"TAA/Ansett Flight Crew/Ground Staff Re-Union being held 6th October 2007. This is open for all of the above based in PNG from 1960-1972/3."

...which is being held at New Farm, Brisbane.

Animalclub.

I may even try and get to the chansett reunion myself having annoyed a few of them in POM from Patair-Ansett until January 2003! Dave Hayward and his mob be there plus fatty Hawkins of the SeaBee fame?

If the Pixie bash goes ahead, we were looking at Nov 1 or the nearest weekend in November to coincide with the first flight of PX001 to Lae.

I wonder whether the Guiness Book of Records has categories for
(a) The most geriatic alcoholics in one gathering; or
(b) The most War Stories in one afternoon?

TAA/Chansett/Patair/MAL and Pixi reunions......... Hot tip: Buy Casslemain-Perkins/Lion Nathan Shares!!!

I thought Fatty was known as Skinny these days??

My memory is not so good but Bill Sherwood, Tom Bennett (I was told), son of Larry Blackman, Fred Fethers were there. Didn't see or hear of Dave.

Sharpie, will PM you with the details if you wish.

Eh Sharpie....not wishing to sound like Im running around ...crossing the "I's and dotting the "T's.....but it was PX100 as the first Flight to LAE and indeed anywhere as a true PX Flight ...I think Wing Commander Kessey was the Capt and Ken Hoy was the F/O .....

Is John Kessey still with us? He must be lapun now - almost as old as Sharpie!

It's well over 20 years since he retired from PX and briefly went to Talair.

Ditto McChook - last heard he was living on the Gold Coast (?) and wasn't well.

Lapun tru....if in fact he is still with us ....Im sure the Wing Commander would be a good bit older than Sharpie ..cripes I left PX over 20 years ago and he was gone several years before that....btw Fatty is still Fatty...and Skinny is still Skinny...they are 2 different people sharing a common surname...Fatty Bats on regardless ..flogging 737s around the Ozzie skies.....going on 70 I think...and medicals care of Jungle Jim no doubt

I spoke to Brian McCook a few mths ago...he's living north of Brisbane.

Whatever physical ailments he may or may not be suffering he's mentally as sharp as ever...and loves getting calls from old friends.

Brian flew the first Series 200 Twin Otter (converted Series 100) from California to PNG in 1972. It became VH-GKR, later P2-RDB and was the lightest Twin Otter Talair operated.

I think John Kessey briefly came to Talair as Operations Manager around 1979, after his retirement. If he retired at 60 he would now be well into his 80s. John is still listed as an Officer of the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators, Australian Region.

I was offered a ride from California (Oakland I think) to Hawaii on the delivery flight, but after finding that it was a 14 hours (Brian's calculation) flight and no smoking I politely declined!! He'd already scared the hell out of me with his and his mate's (the Otter Salesman) driving in the Sierras. You can't glug red wine out of a magnum (perhaps bigger) and drive straight in them thar mountains!!

P2-RDB was 'my' Twotter when I was Wau based....it was the best twotter in Dennis' fleet. Climbed better, handled better...just magic...if it hadn't been I would probably have died pulling 2000kg of coffee that day outa Hieweni

RDB had a disposeable payload of 2,300 kg (5,251 kg - 2,950 kg) and lower fuel burn, compared to most of the Series 300 Otter's disposeable payload of at best, 2,050 kg (5,700 kg - 3,650 kg) and higher fuel burn.

2,000 kg out of Hieweni has a certain pucker factor! But did you know the Series 300 is approved for aerial work operations (ice patrols) in Canada at 6,350 kg TO weight?

But this is thread drift......... Back to Sharpie's P!ss Up!

Me, myself, and my team of reporters and cameramen will be there too. Which adds up to two.
Promise me you won't make a speech Sharpie = not like the TALAIR reunion anyway.

It always amazes me that whilst purporting to be mature & grown up professionals, posts like above give the exact opposite impression.
