Vale Joel Parkingson
Joel Parkingson former Instructor at Crest Aviation, Essendon was tragically killed in a car accident in the USA, where he had moved with his wife of 6 months, Erin.
When Joel became a pilot he joined a group of people who enjoy their chosen career like no other person on earth. It’s a passion we can feel and where you see the view change every single moment. When one of us gets cleared to a higher altitude than man could ever hope to fly we all feel that loss. We mourn briefly but choose to remember quickly with a drink and a smile and always remember those who fly with us. I hope those close to this young aviator can feel the spirit that now flies with all of us. We always remember.

I had the pleasure of having Joel as one of my mates. Not only did I know him through his involvement in aviation, i also happened to know him through our football umpiring. Many a beer was had between us and our mates at the local! Joel was always approachable about aviation, and gave me many hints thoughout my entire training - from my first solo until recently when he was giving me career advice. I can honestly say Joel was one of the nicest guys ive met, and i take great pride in calling him a mate.
His wonderful life was tragically cut short, and I, along with many others will miss him so much.
My condolences to Erin and his family.
