Employment in Oz

I have always wanted to become a helicopter pilot, so have finally decided to get off my arse and do it. I'm aware of the costs and the hours involved to obtain your commercial license but could anyone give me an indicatioin on the current market for Helicopter Pilots in Australia? Are there even any jobs in Sydney? How many hours flying time do you have to do before they'll even give you the time of day?

Any useful information anyone can give will be greatfully apreciated.

Could I suggest reposting on the Rotorheads forum, where there are many experienced Oz drivers who will share their opinions and advice. Also try the search function.
There are many unemployed helicopter pilots with the bare licence, but once you've got your first few hundred hours under your belt the picture is currently very rosy.
And you will almost certainly have to move from Sydney to the bush/top end/red centre. I have a mate who's itching to get back to Sydney, and he has a couple of thousand hours.

Be sure before you take the leap!
