LPG v unleaded and Canberra's plans

With the current rush for people to convert their cars to use LPG, I was wondering if the federal government still had in place the plan to introduce excise etc., make LPG cost the same as unleaded by about 2011 or 2012?

Yep, Starting in 2010, the excise will be added at 1.5 Cents per Ltr every year till a max of 12 Cents P/Ltr

did you really think the govt will just hand over $2K??? and not expect anything in return?

Was this in place before the $2k "cash back" was put forward? (I don't know).

If so, yes, the $2k is extra.

So whereas LPG was a saving for those with the initiative to convert to LPG a year or two ago before all this hype, now everyone wants to do it, the price will just go up, give it a year and it won't be worth the trouble. Forgive me if i'm a cynic.
