QANTAS Cadet Pilot Questions?
Hi to all,
I just have a few questions about the QF cadet scheme interview stages.
I am heading to SYD very soon for the skills and aptitude test and i am wondering if anyone on this forum has been to this stage(s) and can explain to me the things i should know and any info about the test themselves.
Eg:
A description of the skills test?
How long do the Skills and Physc Test run for on the day?
regards Red777

What does the Skills Assessment involve?
The Skills Assessment is a computer-based assessment of approximately 1 hour. It includes a hand-eye coordination assessment and two different aircraft instrumentation comprehension assessments. Each section of the assessment is time-limited. When completing the time limited sections you are advised to work as quickly and accurately as possible. If you are not sure of an answer, select your best choice but avoid wild guessing.
Skills Assessment
Performance in the Skills Assessment may be assisted by good hand-eye coordination skills and by familiarity with the six basic aircraft flight instruments (artificial horizon, airspeed indicator, compass, altimeter, vertical speed, and turn and bank indicator).

The entire Psychometric Assessment will take three to five hours to complete.
The Skills and Psychometric Assessment takes approximately 4 to 6 hours to complete if both assessments are attempted.

On a serious note, if you get an interview I'd be asking some very hard questions about what QF will be guarenteeing you when you fork out the $100 000+ for your cadetship. At the rate it's going at the moment and with Dixon saying things like "Qantas pilot's don't have a monopoly on Qantas aeroplanes" I would be investigating it very carefully. You do not want to be paying that sort of coin only to be sent to Jetstar to pay $40000 for an endo and be a Second Officer for $50000. Wages and conditions are plummeting at the moment so be careful.
Also if the whole QF thing goes pear shape in a bad way, as a cadet you won't just be able to jump into a regional or another airline either, your options are very limited due to minimal experience.
