YAAL air show

Been talked about before but unable to locate the thread with the search function...so

Date for the airshow now set. 18 Aug 2006

Anyone planning on attending?
Googled and found a web site with instructions to park at VRD and get a "shuttle bus" to AAL, (They are probably using the community troopies.)
Finally why the hell there?

This is what their web site says.
http://www.walangeri.nt.gov.au/counc...dd0b8f0b58d2fd

Sounds like it will be ok except for the bush tucker meals, last time I was at an opening of an art gallery they made roo stew in a half 44 that was somewhat rusty.

Nice pics Tinpis

Dat bus tucka

And at night, a concert, with entertainment by rising Aboriginal band NOKTURNL and a Battle of the Bands competition from some of the exciting musical talent in the area.

If the crowds are a bit thick, mention something about a man with fierce, burning red eyes calling himself Gadaidja.....

Battle of the bands...........
Every night in Hooker creek you get that
except they are all playing at the same time.
The weird thing is if you group the bass player from one house with the drummer from another and so on , you get a fair sound.

I was wondering what on earth it could have been all about and why?
I guess its all about the 40th anniversary of "From little things, big things grow?"

Little bit on page 6 of the Sunday Terrorist Max.

Hmmm ...crowds thrilled by Chris Sperou doing upside down ribbon cut ...must be the oldest pilot on the planet doing this?... ............

.......crowds entertained by Sarah the Clown and Cookie .... ....who TF are they???

......hundreds tucked into bush turkey cooked in traditional hole in the ground....... .....stand by for casualties.....

what ..no modaplanes taken by crocs?
The old NT news is slacking, or getting ready for the buildup and wet.
I hope Chris and company didn't have the bush tucker then fly, makes for a messy canopy

maxgrad,
last year we flew into Avalon from Essendon. From memory it was about 80 bucks return. The company was Directair at YMEN - dunno if they are doing it again.

Was Yamba there?

Look, Yamba is in dreamtime to catch you a dream,
Look at them glitter,
Look at them gleam.
So take one now from Yamba's hand
And take it with you to snoozy land.

Saw a bit on the news where does the T-28 live in the NT somewhere?

Be a fun thing to do a doco with the Yarrallumnians and have them describe what they saw.

dat mailplane she pregnant hey! An she goes like da clappers.........

AN-124...um I think you might have the wrong airshow?? If not could you explain as I am just a tad confused.

The T-28 used to spend a bit of time at VRD but I don't think it's been there for some time now. From memory the majority of T-28's are based on the east coast

I do believe there is/was one in a warehouse in Winellie undergoing a revamp.

Not sure on the progression.
