NZ Flight training subsidies

Hi all,
not sure if this is posted in the correct thread, but I am wandering if a few people could help me out.
I have heard from several sources that in New Zealand, students and flight schools can receive subsidies and interest-free student loans to complete your CPL.
I have had difficulties trying to obtain relevant info on the web or I am not searching the right web sites.
Also can anyone let me know what the pre requisets are if there is any such program.(NZ citizenship, or resisdency etc..)
Many thanks,

R

I havn't heard of any subsidies but you can get a student loan if you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

Student loans are interest-free if you live and work in the New Zealand until you have paid it off. Otherwise, interest accrues at a market rate.

Dud,
Do you know if only certain flight schools qualify, or can you obtain a intrest free loan through studentlink if going through any flight training business.
Also, sounds like you know a bit about NZ. What's the job prospects over there for a newbie qualified CP?
Any different to OZ?

Only avaliable at some schools/aeroclubs. Its interest free but i believe that the inflation component remains (about 3.5%) which is an amount to consider of you borrow 60 or 70k.
Newly qualified youll have a better chance picking up work in OZ, further down the track probably easier to get a turbo prop job in NZ. If you dissapera to OZ it wont be interest free.
In my opinion - DONT get a full loan. Borrow a few thousand or so and work full time for the rest. Thats how it was done in yesteryear and youll have something to put on the CV too.
