Ya know Tinnie, I went overseas with Ute when she went finish and she told me, "If you try and get me drunk, you are wasting your time! Ask me nicely and I will say YES!"
Who asked?
How many did she drink under the table?
I saw some champion drinkers who were slumbering under the table after sliding off the chair while Ute sat with a pissed, smug, grin on her face as majestically finished the bottle.
I stayed with her mum who told us, "While I was "carrying" her, the allies were bombing Hamburg incessantly. To help not be frightened we were full on Schnaps most of the time".

Chimbu:
Thanks very much. Are there any inscriptions on the back of those wings that may indicate manufacturer, and can you also give me the years you were issued each one? If so can you PM them to me? Much appreciated.

You've started a trend here mate, with the logbook backgrounds 'n all.

You're gonna have to help me here. Can you send me a larger photo of the Guinea Airways wing? Are there any inscriptions on the back of the wing? If so could you please send them to me or take a photo please.

When I joined Territory Airlines, the Brevet was made in three parts then joined together and had the habit of a wing falling off.
I got an old friend in Auckland, Cliff J. Garvie to manufacture the brevet in one piece that solved the problem. I am not sure whjen TAL went over to a different supplier.
Apart from Pixie wings, I returned all company provided equipment on leaving the various company's I flew for.
If Sixtiesrelic can sent me a good photo of TAL, Patair, Ansett-APNG brevet's along with dimensions. I think that they could be made in down-town Manila at a reasonable price for others who may be interested.
TINPIS. Havent heard of the Prawn, or Fingers as we called him, for many a year. Did he return to Tassie?
Looie.

Stol
Best info is probably in James Sinclairs' Balus - The Aeroplane in Papua New Guinea, Volumes 1 & 2
Ron Firns, an Airport Inspector with DCA, was able to establish Stol with some help from his plantation owner friends in about 1959-60. It was taken over by Patair in about 1970.
At it's 'peak' in the mid 60's, Stol had: 1 Cessna 310, 3 Aztecs, 1 Cessna 336,and 5 Cessna 185's
happy days,

Bugger me Sharpie I just looked on the back of my TAL wings and sure enough there is engraved Garvie N.Z.
I was waiting in POM in 1970 for STOL to make up their mind about giving me a job on the 185 and Porter.
They were in the middle of a takeover by PATAIR and didnt know what was going to happen
And so it was that Sharpie press-ganged me from the bar in the old Wastegate and sent me off to Baron Hellydore von Shushnick in Hagen.
PATAIR crew were mostly later absorbed into Ansett Mal.
I had to wait another 14 years

QWA or QAW Pilot Wings
Can anyone identify the following wing, which I believe is Australian in origin.
The wing has a capital letter "Q" and inside the "Q" are the letters "W" and "A" against a blue/turquoise background, with the inside strokes of the "W" providing the support strokes for the letter "A".
Any information ie name of the airline and date of issue would be most appreciated.
Thanks
QSK?

QSK Dont know if it's only wings you are collecting, but I have the full PX set of wings and cap badge . In addition, not strictly commercial, but I have the South Pacific Aero Club Silver wings which I will send you when I get back from the Arctic North of Scotland in about a week.
By the way, the wings which were easiest to get, but not so easy to Photograph, and which you could get awarded many tmes, but in operating conditions which could be considered the most dangerous in the world, were your Black Wings. Hands up who has them.!
