Smile GO THE SOCCEROOS (Flightwatch will be busy tonight)

Good morning all,

Couldn't resist a quick rev up for tonights big game....

You've gotta feel for those airline boys rostered on tonight....

I'm sure flightwatch will be kept very busy passing on updates as the game progresses. Perhaps they should give a braodcast every 15 mins.

Go Aussie

...but I cant for the life of me find the part in the AIP that describes the correct standard phraseology for requesting sports game scores!

I remember last year on that last saturday in september, I was on a charter and overheard a sheepish DJ pilot request the current scores.......

...."standby"......"The eagles are up by 10, 15 minutes into the first quarter"

Bugger it.. transmit the commentary on HF

If only SBS had an HF service... they should've been transmitting it on Radio Australia... I checked the schedule, but alas! I'd like to think Radio Australia will have regular updates though.

Wait a second...

"......"The eagles are up by 10, 15 minutes into the first quarter"
I'm pretty sure that would require a readback, disco.

Man, I'm airborne during the Aus-Brazil clash next week! Doing a red-eye. Not at all happy. I really like you ATC guys, I really do!

p.s. I emailed Radio Australia re any short-wave broadcasts and haven't received a reply. Does anyone know if they'll be covering it?

Unfortunately it would appear not:
(AEST)
23:00 Asia Pacific [ News and Current Affairs ]
23:30 Innovations [ Science ]
00:00 Big Ideas [ Social Issues ]
01:00 Asia Pacific

However they may have updates between programs.
SBS Radio appears to be broadcasting it. Although I'm having trouble on the website finding a freq list, and confirming that it's not just in languages other than english. Although I suppose you could listen, waiting to hear "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL"

If it's any consolation I'll be watching it on TV

Great result.............

And apparently the Egyptian Referee apologised to the Australians after the Match, as the goal that Japan scored should not have been allowed.
