At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, I'd be guessing things are a tad frantic out of/in/around DN and DIL.
Congrats to the boys and girls tasked with making everything safe up there for all operators.

Fond memories of Darwin last time East timor flared up, I don't think I have ever seen such a diverse range of type's in one place at one time.
You guys do a great job, it must be difficult sequencing a lighty between a military transport and a fast jet.
Still remember the day I called approach only to be told I was number 17 in the sequence, I had to feel sorry though for the poor guy in the C-5, he was number 2 in the emergency sequence!!

Dont be silly...its the difference between SOME activity and sleepy holllow country backwoods.
The hospital (hausik) is a bit stretched and good work done by all concerned there.
NT Gov and mandarins gets a breather cos Pot Keet off the news for a while(and will probably stay that way for another 20 years)

NFR, that was the day the same C5 left hydraulic fluid down the runway at Tindal forcing its closure and nullifying the alternate for Ansett and QANTAS wasn't it? Forced them to land on 36, short runway no tvasis etc? Ahh Darwin, fond memories.

Yeah, that was the one. I believe that the QF 737 landed on RWY36 and the An 737 landed OVER the disabled Herc (after all the appropriate clearance heights had been work out and a displaced threshold set)!

Yes what a day. I was lonely in approach and missed the burn - just waiting for a big black radome to find it's way into the approach room. And the same day the Dash 8 had gear problems shortly after the C130 cut the grass and the C5 was sent to TN. And then the evening brought the Baron with one engine out being vectored onto the Arnhem highway with MKT as possible contingency and with VH-ENT, I think it was (memory dims) being vectored on for intercept and escort - found him at dusk, and 4 oktas and OCTA. And we had the helo enroute before he even landed on the road. Took about 5 shots to convince that pilot he wasn't going to make DN with that descent rate (after we got the Real Story about the motor). Then at last light in the flare the Volvo wouldn't get off the road and he had to throw it in the ditch. pretty good day for all - no one hurt. Memories of the best place in Oz to control.

Funniest moment was the Portugese C130 with ONE POB. Mighty lonely up the front there and soooo far to reach all those switches and lever thingies.
