I went to the information evening in Sydney recently, what they said was that because they were so hungry for pilots eg approx 1500 pilots by 2010. They had recently allowed female pilots to apply and that if they could no longer find pilots with enough jet time, they may in the future allow some pilots with turboprop time to apply.

But no at this stage! at the end of the day new hires are getting a command in 3 yrs or so. They have no S/O's and they are looking for people who can very quickly take a command. So maybe in the future turboprop command may be included in the entry requirements.

Emirates will continue to struggle while quality airlines like JETSTAR INT offer so much in the way of pay and days off overseas.
Seriously though, if they start Aussie basings then they will get many starters.
