Cathay And Oz basings

Just interested to know if you guys who have been offered jobs on an Oz base for the D scale pay will be taking the job? or would you prefer to stay where you are, as the money is crap (about $92000 for F/O A330) and guys on the base doing the same job as you will be earning $30k - $50k more.
Also are there many guys and girls in Oz who would leave Virgin, Jetstar etc to take one of these positions.
Ta

how long does it take these days to get an Oz base on the 330?? I understand one bids for it in seniority order - so Iwould imagine there is quite a demand??

If you call $92,000 crap pay, you could probably do with a reality check. Perhaps it's de rigeur in airline circles, but it's certainly not crap.

The point is considering another guy doing the same job for 50% more in the same company 92k is crap. But as usual in Oz guys will be queueing up to work for less and less money, why do you think they are choosing Australia as their target?

Arm out the window why are so keen to work for lower wages? Why not try and maintain the wages or even push them up a bit.
Take out tax and a one income family would living in Sydney it would be pretty tough.
I think VB F/O's are be getting that for domestic 737 flying, why do you think that is acceptable pay for long haul international? Oz airlines pay their F/O's about $150k for 767, so $92k ain't looking so great
Palmderia takes about 4.5 years, depending on the base you want they aren't all full up but seeing as it looks like guys willing to work for D scale pay I guess the company will say sorry no more spots, however if you want to work for less there is a spot.

Team America, I'm not trying to **** stir, just an observance that it's not a bad wage compared to the average.
Market forces are the driver, so if people are willing to take a lesser rate of pay for a favoured basing, they will. The argument that 'someone gets more than me for the same work' doesn't hold up as soon as individual motivation comes into play, unless the rates are set by some agreement.

No worries, can you give me some examples of the average? Maybe I do need a reality check.
I just think CX should pay the going rate for an F/O in Oz, ie the same as they pay the other guys.
You are right about market forces, it all comes down to the old "if no one takes the job they might have to re-think the offer". But we know that will never happen.

'someone gets more than me for the same work' does hold up because by accepting the lesser pay you are driving the conditions down for everyone now, and in the future.

It seems that Oz pilots think they owe their company something just for giving them a job. It should be the other way around, they need you and so should pay you accordingly, furthermore it is just that....just a job.

It's a shame they don't issue a set of balls along with a fresh CPL as lots of guys could do with some.
