rumour has it that you could be right, especially after the latest appointment at the top may see new recruits coming from another island west!

Chuckles et your Sharpness I looked at the appointment with some trepidation too. If Pixie is rocky, then this surely will push it over the edge.
With one 767 the boss, whoever he may be, is dicing with death as we found out a few days ago with the tail strike. There is one other appointment which gives cause for some cheerfulness. The Sales and Marketing man is rumoured (Read definitely) to be one ex Qantas man who has great experience of both PNG and PX. You both know him. However, with the Local CEO appointment it could be that the expat appointment may also be sat upon. Whichever way you slice it though, there are not enough local Pilots to go around, and the local CEO, I am sure, will not have the balls to deal with the Pollies and the pressure.

Where did you get the idea that the new CEO is a local, Taily? Sharpie's spot on with his comment on the likely source of future recruits. It's been happening in other organisations for years...

I have an idea that the bloke's background is accountancy, Taily. If so, he's probably Sri Lankan but I could stand to be corrected on that. Either way, the "further West" comment is certainly true.

OzEx and Taildragger
Heard today that he is Sri Lankan accountant ex Ella Motors... and the ex QF guy who has the marketing job is not the man I was thinking of - this one has the same name as a newspaper man who went to USA.

Tru o nogat?
This threaded started off asking the question on some expat pilots getting contracts cancelled.
I have also heard from Pixie sources that some former expat drivers are being recalled out of semi retirement to make up the numbers on the pocket rocket.
Seems a bit contradictary doesn't it?

I have heard that they maybe considering doing another small intake of expats if they can't get any suitable nationals. The pool of experienced third level airline pilots, with any reasonable kind of in country experience and knowledge must be drying up given the state of the industry in PNG at the monent.
