Question PPL Conversions/Validations in Oz...

Just wondering what it takes to get a conversion or validation done in Oz? Does one need to get a SPL to get the validation/conversion? I heard from somewhere that I will require a SPL for this... doesn't seem right though?

Also, is it pretty straightforward to get one, or does CASA take their own sweet time as usual getting the paperwork sorted?

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I converted a UK licence to Aus a couple of years back and it was reasonably painless at that time. Check out http://www.basair.com.au/coming_to_australia.shtml and http://www.casa.gov.au/fcl/transfer.htm for mroe info.
