Question Basing

Quick question to those in the know, not sure if this has been posted before, upon successfull completion of training with Qantas or other carriers, what sort of options do you have in regards to where you get based initially? If you don't get a choice initially, do you have a say as your career progresses with the company?
Thanks

I can only speak for the current QF options and not other carriers.

Predicting QF initial basings at the moment is a little like looking into a crystal ball. You would have had a SYD base on the -400 but the company is still sorting out issues with the whole SIN base so that is still up in the air.

However, in the current climate, when a position for an FO slot becomes available you have the choice (depending on seniority and therefore how long you want to wait) of taking a Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney basing on the 737 or a Sydney basing on the 767. There was of course the Cairns option of joining Australian Airlines on the 767 and that may still exist, however you would be flying 76's in QF colours wearing you QF uniform, operating QF services but for the negotiated Australian Airlines rate and conditions.

Twin.
