Instructor Rating Renewal.

I am considering renewing my instructor rating. Its been lapsed for about 12 months. Do the regs.allow me to contact the ATO direct and do the renewal with him or do I have to go through a flying school??

I am flying heavy jet equipment but have done a lot of instructing pre airlines.

You have probably found that there is a list of ATOs on CASA's website.

There is no requirement to have a CFI's recommendation for a renewal of a rating, although you must have CFI recommendation if you were upgrading from, say, a Gr2 to a Gr1.

Contact your favourite ATO direct. He has to notify CASA at least 24 hours before the flight test for all sorts of Admin reasons I am sure you are familiar with, ad he should be able to just do it.
