C182 / IO520 conversion

Hey funksters,

Trying to get some info on dumping 300 horsie into a 182. Anyone out there who's done this / been involved with / knows someone who has? Also wondering if anyone knows about existing STCs for the conversion and where I might be able to purchase one? Aside from purchasing the 182 and your stock 520, what might the process cost?

Any help, appreciative grandioso!
Cheers
SC

Also try Texas Skyways or Airplains in the states.
the conversion is for an IO-550 300hp, which doesn't require the installation of header tanks.

whether it is worth it is up to how you drive it , i have seen converted c182's driven around at low power ,( whats the point) and also thinking 135 knots is fast a good standard one will do that

yes probably would make a good jump plane , what i ment was i have heard of some people flying these conversions with the throttle out why convert it when it is probably only producing less than 240 hp anyway , for a jump plane the io-550 would be good if you can keep the cylinder head temp down on the climb out i believe they can run quite hot if the baffling is not up to it
