Blackhawks over MEL

I was standing at Flinders St station the other day, waiting for the preferred conveyance of the great unwashed, when I noticed a Blackhawk doing low orbits over Southbank & the "G".

Don't know why really, but I got a warm & fuzzy feeling knowing that "our finest" will be down here looking after our big show next month.

Cheers to all in the ADF!

Were they painted black? Do they go into "silent mode"?

Hear 'em most days. Five or so of the beasts are based at Laverton. Interesting time last Thursday last week watching them "practice" stuff at Fort Gellibrand.

There is some very interesting "stuff" around the place, including a new 450 HP rigid inflateable for the police soggys.

CRIKEY!

23:42 last night, two of the buggers flew low level over my house!!! I jumped out of bed & pulled the missus down off the ceiling & ran out to have a gander. Didn't see the first two, naturally, but saw a third passing overhead a bit later. Only running light was the red tail light blinking (Is that what is called "Black Ops"??), very spooky as you could barely see the silhouette against the sky...oh, and the dirty great red tail light!

Oh, & if any of the crew noticed a rather large & shivering target dressed only in a pair of jocks through the night vision...give us a wave next time!

Of course anybody showing any undue interest in these flights is liable to a spanking from the MIB, unless wearing a approved anorak.

Hmmm...sounds kinky!

I think I'm getting paranoid now...lots of noise last night...sounded like automatic weapons fire! I might go have a lie down I think....

I'm sure they do Stu, but this wasn't choppers. I even rang the local cop shop to see if there were any "live fire" exercises!

Happy to report that it's all quiet tonight...so far!

They did the same in Sydney whilst 'training' for the Olympics. A formation of at least six flew over my parents home close to Prospect with no lights. Not even the flashing red one on the tail. Could barely make them out against the sky, but I doubt I'll forget that sight and sound for a while yet.

Buster: I think it's known in the business as "blinking red light ops"...but I can neither confirm nor deny that.

I thought that was something totally different that takes place after dark.

Do you live next to me? - although I was woken up at 11.40 last night not by choppers but by the neighbours shagging........
