SportAvex Airshow on Sunday 5th..
At Tauranga City Airport. Show runs 1200-1630hrs.
Culmination of the 2006 Sport Aviation Expo (SportAvex)

A large number of sport aircraft on display, along with selected Warbirds and historic craft, high performance gliders, helicopters and gyrocopters, as well as aerobatic displays, and a performance by Kiwi Blue - the Air Force parachute display team.
The event is held every two years with the venue swapping between Tauranga in the North Island, and Ashburton in the South.
One of the big attractions this weekend will be the privately-owned Hawker Hunter Jet fighter, which stands 4.26m high and has a top speed of 1144kmh.
Also on display will be the Thunder Mustang, the fastest piston-powered air craft in the country.
It was a three-quarter sized replica of the original Mustang.
Airshow director Bill Sisley said last time the event was held up to 10,000 people attended, and this year was shaping up to be as big as ever.
"We have over 100 registered already. We will probably get 150 SAANZ (Sports Aircraft Association of New Zealand) planes, plus a lot of the other planes from aviation clubs around the country.
"It's extremely exciting" he said of the occasion. "It brings all of the members together. We have over 400, and most of them will come to this. It's the biggest meeting we have.
"It's great to meet with all of your old friends and other people who build aircraft."
It was also a great way for the uninitiated to be introduced to the sport and recreation that was available to everyone, he said.
Some of the profits from the SportAvex Airshow will be put aside to help foster an interest in aviation among young people.
This year 100 introductory flights will be given away those aged between 15 and 17 years.
Winners would be taken up in a specially designed training plane with dual controls, by a qualified instructor, where they will get to fly the plane.

Variable 10 knots tending southwest early morning, rising to 20 knots for a time late Sunday morning and afternoon, then tending southeast 10 knots but 20 knots offshore in the evening. Fair visibility in showers Sunday evening.
