UK Pilot looking for 6-seater single-engine rental in Eastern Australia

I am a UK-based pilot looking to organise a flying holiday in eastern Australia some time between June and August of this year.

I am looking to rent a 6-seater single-engine aircraft (or high performance 4 seater). CSU, retractable gear, and turbo charger would be nice optional extras but not necessary.

There will be only 4 people on board but we will need the lifting capacity for bags, camping gear, etc).

Having difficulty tracking down 6-seater SEPL for rent on the east coast. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't come to Sydney looking for a 6 seat single.

Also,

apart from the odd Mooney there aint a great deal of choice in the speed stakes. When it comes to something with a decent payload 182's are about your only option.

The Sydney rental market is sicker than a Chinese Chicken Coop!!!

Try the Redcliffe Aero Club (www.redcliffeaeroclub.com.au). They have a 6-seater Cherokee 6 available for hire, as well as a 182 and Arrow. Nice part of Australia as well.

There is an IFR Lance for private hire in Bankstown - VH-JNV.

Contact the owner, Ray at [email protected]

Checkflight at your expense of course, but a very nice machine!

www.tooradinflyingschool.com.au in Melbourne have a nice new Cirrus SR22. It will carry you and your bags fairly easily with power to burn and legally.

Endorsement is not difficult if you're a half decent pilot. Get yourself the Garmin 430 simulator for your PC and there's a Cirrus ground-school CD you can practice with. It's the only one available in Southern OZ. 160+ tas. Slightly more expensive than the others buy faster and much better equipped, IFR, TAWS etc.

Cool Bonanza's

There are two six seat Bonanza's available for hire from Moorabbin airport, and a couple available for hire from lilydale airport.
If you google

Lilydale flying school
Peter Bini
Blue Demon Aviation

you'll get links to their websites, and there you can see costs and requirements.
Enjoy!

Danger

Better have a chat with someone who is used to having overseas pilots hiring aircraft. Unless you have proper security clearance (AVID) +/- Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC), you may not even be able to fly here if your stay is short. A business specialising in air tours for overseas visitors has ceased business in light of the current situation.

It has taken aussie pilots with current aussie licences months and months to get their security clearances.

Not even the paranoid USA has reacted in as stupid and ill-thought-out manner as the Australian political lackeys.

Good luck.
