Re: djpil's blog
Recently received a letter from Mr Goodrich on behalf of the Director, Statistics Section, DOTAR, asking for my co-operation and participation in their GA Activity Survey for 2005. Last year I told him that I had introduced a user-pays system and it would cost $130. The DOTAR response was to the effect that it wasn't really optional and they wouldn't pay. I now find that I must recover additional un-necessary costs of being involved in aviation. My fee is now $260.
From the newspapers today the Minister for Defence Robert Hill:
The government already has the information about my aeroplane that is more than necessary for the purpose of the survey.
Mr Goodrich, you can obtain the information from whatever records are held by Airservices.

I don't believe that governments are entitled to any more information about you than is absolutely necessary.
