Question CPLs endorsing CPLs

Question:

If my mate a CPL wants to endorse me (an ATPL) on his D55 Baron, he can do it accoding to something in part 5 of the CARs (can't remember exact reference).

What the CARs don't explain is the procedure and paperwork rigmarole required by the Gestapo.

Have any of you used this priveledge of your licence and if so, what's the gen?

Cheers lads

Talking

My understanding of the reg is that the "Approved person" undertaking the training has to be issued an approval for the exercise by the authority. Usually this approval is given during the chief pilot approval purpose. the purpose of the reg is so chief pilots can do endorsment training to pilots within a company whilst not being the holder of an instructor rating. It covers the check and trainig requirment. Best bet is to have a chat with your local FOI and see what their interpretation is, then apply for the approval. I wouldn't hold your breath though.
