yes they have won funding to begin extending the main hangar at motat..the plans basically involve running a roof between the current display hangar and the restoration hangar to create a super hangar at meola road..if nothing has changed since I was a member.
The restoration of the Sunderland will continue indoors and one day they might even try to reverse the superphosphate damage on that loadstar from rural aviation..classic piece of kiwi aviation history that is home to dozens of birds nests. For those of you that haven't been to motat lately, their aviation exibit is award winning and excellent and some of the great restorations are soon to go on display when the new space becomes available..there are a beech 18, DC 3 in NAC colours and a Mossie all ready for the public I beleive, that the old fullas have got ready to display as well!!
