retirement age for Australian pilots

I was wondering whether someone could tell me if there is a minimum retiring age in Australia for a pilot and does it vary depending on the kind of plane flown? I don't know much about aviation or flying. thank you. Best, annegra

60 for International operations. (in accordance with ICAO)

65 for Australian Domestic operations.

When the FAA revoked Bob Hoovers licence at age 60, he came to Australia, and was permitted to fly here.

Bullwinkle-

Not entirely correct. There is no "Retirement Age" in Australia. Pilots can't fly in US controlled airspace over sixty, so it is difficult to be an International pilot over that age. There is no statutory requirement to retire at sixty five and it is illegal to require people to leave because of age. We had a 68YO flying at Ansett when it collapsed.

Oh, and Bob Hoover was 74 when the FAA pulled his medical. There 60 age limit only applies to Airline passenger operations.

I think annegra asked about a "minimum retiring age in Australia ...", not maximum retiring age.

There's no minimum, but as a guide one can easily afford to retire around five years after getting a Qantas 747 command, but for the rest of the pilots in Australia, it's when one can no longer pass the medical and can scam a pension.

If you are born after 1964, the magic number is now 60 I believe before you can access your dollars.

Actually

Date of birth
Preservation age

Before 1/7/60
55

1/7/60 – 30/6/61
56

1/7/61 – 30/6/62
57

1/7/62 – 30/6/63
58

1/7/63 – 30/6/64
59

After 30/6/64
60
