ABC's 4 Corners program-metro crash in north QLD

G'day all,

Did anyone see ABC's four corners program last night on the metro that crashed in far north QLD a few months ago?? Quite interesting and brought up some very interesting points to do with the lack of equipment these days at many regional airports, previous pilots complaints about the company, the experience of the pilots themselves, lack of GPWS etc etc etc... Any thoughts???

Cheers!

Something shone through...

It confirmed my suspicion that one of the companies involved are a very shonky operation. More so than most, too.

However, that is purely based on my interpretation of what I saw and what was conveyed to me.

There was a related article in the Aviation section of The Australian today. The widow of one of the two pilots wants to raise awareness of how badly paid pilots are.

It sounded like he was (as usual) on a pretty raw deal...

Angry Doesn't surprise me at all

CASA carries on about safety and rules and blah blah blah blah and really they are just a group of wankers that could not make it in the private industry so like the cowards that they are they ran to "cushy" government jobs and have planted their mangy asses in "safe" little positions that protect them from the realities of GA. I was out drinking with Bill Riceman the other night (suprising since he is a staunch born again CHRISTIAN) and laughed about the "state" of aircraft in GA... Disgusting...!!! Until they get HONEST people in CASA and address the real issues in aviation and stop skirting around the edges - you will see people DYING!!!!

It's funny you know, the majority of people who complain about ALL their previous employers, usually have the same things to say about those employers later. Funny how they miss the one common denominator, isn't it.........

That one common denominator is the whole industry in general.

Not quite correct. Fiona Norris is the widow of Paul Norris who was a pilot travelling as a passenger on that flight, not one of the operating crew.

Yeah Parablues, stop whingeing.

Misinformed, anonymous bitching from bitter people helps absolutely nobody, and is highly disrespectful to those who passed away. None of us were there on the flight deck, and cannot possibly know what happened.

The two operators involved employ honest, hardworking pilots, and there is great anguish still over the crash. I know several of them, and it's the hardest things they have ever had to deal with.

So let's all remember that there are many grieving people here, and we don't need disingenuous speculation based on drunken conversations.

Grow up, this is real life.
