Wheels up at Coober Pedy today

Heard on the grapevine that an aircraft done a wheels up (sort of) at Coober Pedy this afternoon. Aircraft (a Bonanza with tip tanks) had departed Alice Springs & enroute to Coober Pedy had some sort of electrical failure. Wheels came partly down, & pilot did not know how to use the emergency extension. Aerodrome was closed until runway was cleared. Anyone else hear anything about it?

DF.

I wonder if he'll get chased up for damages...

I got a nasty letter for blowing away 20 cubic meters of fine aggregate at Coober Pedy doing an engine run, and a $1400 repair bill.

I must say the fine aggregate looked the same as the rest of the dirt for 100 miles around

We did look for opals afterwards, but alas found none
