For those of you intrigued by Prop's very informative and comprehensive post above, no use checking the rego with the CASA data base - it seems to have been included on the national secrets list! Or maybe it's just plain broke?
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Text Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

/casadata/regsearch/displayreg47.asp, line 227
So I need to rely on a failing memory - I seem to recall VH-BWC was an old Bandeirante, originally owned by Sunstate Airlines - but I maybe completely wrong?

Perhaps Prop's may care to reveal more information?

Woomera

Later: Props. I was correct, it was an old Bandit. Try here and I believe your questions may be answered!

Woomera,, you are absolutely correct.

The message was seeking attention from Darwin pilots operating the EMB-110 VH-BWC (Air Ngukurr).

Thread - http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...hreadid=174767
has a brief discussion relating to VH-BWC, I was hopefully looking for some feedback.

Sorry, may have a new rego?

Whats with the mystery of old BWC?

Everytime I see the Blue Bandit its working hard at transporting twice as many as anyone else on the airfield to the islands. The opperator of BWC seems to just do their thing and let all you little gossip boys do best at what you do.

Every pilot in Darwin does the same job, fly's to the same places and has the same goals so why make up gossip to just entertain your small minds, why not ask questions and learn the facts. I think the Bandit will be around for a while longer yet.

I'll see you boys next time Im in Darwin.

My Dear Woomera,

I happened to meet a lady who was a passenger on the doomed 29th of November flight at a dinner party. She didn't mention any thing about the pilot valiantly fighting for control of the stricken aircraft. Thus I presume she wasn't a journo!

Not unlike the Nomad some years earlier that left Darwin with what the PIC thought was sufficient fuel because "Full Mains" had been written on an ops blackboard next to the aircrafts rego.
