Do all QF Capt's think their "GOD"?

Now I have met some decent QF Captains (and FO's) for that matter during my career, just wanting to hear from QF pilot's who genuinely go to work, treat everyone as equals, and don't partake in this "I am GOD, do as I say" bull****. You know what I mean...

EG 1: In PER last week, on the ground freq, our friend in the Airbus next to us radio's ground staff "to get a cleaner up to this flight deck and empty this bin".

EG 2: Just after pushback in DRW and taxing, the tower advised the 330 to hold short, and caution the chieftan which was in front, and first to take off, this did not go down too well with God, in which he replied "clearly we have first priority". The response from the Tower and good on em' "Hold short Qantas 82"

In my earlier days I have seen some fine examples of text book CRM, such as the Captain telling me as a new FO, when the Cabin Manager came in to get our drink orders "tell that bitch coffee white and none", surely this high regard for one's self, and flight attendants are scum, and here to wait on me attitude is well and truly not acceptable, somehow I think this still goes on. I am capt in QFlink, and in our organisation of say 80 pilots, there are only 2 who have this attitude...

Do all QF Capt's think their "GOD" - does what?

Or do you perhaps mean:

Do all QF Capt's think they're (as in they are) "GOD"?

2 examples do not give the whole picture about a company's culture, even though the 2 you mentioned are clear cases of megalomania!

I suppose that the difference is that God doesn't think he's a captain.

FO joins Capt at the brekky table after an overnight and offers this normal greeting

"Good morning Captain"

And his response!

"Thank you"

It may annoy the QF bashers out there to learn that >98% of them are great blokes/ladies to work and socialise with.

But we wouldn't let the truth get in the way of a good ol' QF bash would we?

As a controller I've encountered a few arrogant QANTAS pilots. However, I'm pleased to say that in the main they're pretty good and in the last week some of them have been very understanding and accepting of slow descent speed and then due to other aircraft with problems, I've had to give them extra track miles etc. Thank you to those QANTAS crews involved.

Hairdryer. Gidday.

The types you mention may still exist in small numbers but in recent years the big Q have done much to eliminate this type of culture. And this will continue.

Any QF pilot who has done a recent CRM course will have the message loud and clear. Its a case of "my way or the highway." from the Chief Pilot.

Heard a QF female 737 Captain mouthing of at ATC in Brisbane the other day because of spacing and Virgins apparent slow takeoff run. It was VERY embarassing, especially because once she had made her point should wouldnt stop.

There is a time and a place for that sort of thing. Preferably I think with a landline later on rather than over the airwaves.

The A330 is infested with scabs who still think they are smart for being the last men standing from 89. They are not representative of most of the QF blokes who are generally pretty easy to get along with.

You don't think you might be somewhat of a "turkey" on this forum Ultralight??

I, and many others, do!

i know im not a "professional" pilot, and dont pretend to be either.

****, if i actually took anything on here seriously...

but if you want me to be serious. i know most are good blokes, just as in any area of life,

King oath, interesting statement re the CRM course! I'm interested as to what part of the course you felt that was in? Having seen the course content more than once (and it's development and the ongoing feedback from it) I'm not sure that there are many out there that support your stance!

In terms of flight standards in all respects Qantas is globally simply seen as just another airline. No better, no worse, than any reputable western carrier.

In Australian Aviation it is seen i guess as the
"mecca" in the small minds of the inexperienced that grace its flightdecks, but then again Australian Aviation is so backwards, insular and poorly remunerated in every respect, what else could you expect.

Maybe this thread was actually meant to be a multiple choice question type poll:

Do all QF Capt's think their "GOD"....?

(A) Has a long beard and speaks in a deep booming voice

(B) Is a little fat bald bloke

(C) Is a bloke called Allah

(D) None of the above

AND

We all know the old joke too (not that I agree with it of course)...

(Q) What's the difference between God and a Qantas Pilot?

(A) God doesn't think he's a Qantas pilot

An oldie but a goodie!
