That's terrible news. My condolences to those involved.

Even at this early stage, does anyone know the rego or operator of the aircraft? I used to fly 310s up there, so chances are I know them.

On the 4pm news, tells of a fatal crash in the north west at Tamworth.
The pilot was having trouble and was returning to the airport when he crashed. He was the only one onboard the plane.
Condolences to the familys and friends involved....

Rego FIN.

Pilot said he was "loosing control".

Not pretty.

The pilot was a nice kid with his whole life ahead of him.

What an absolute tragedy.

My most deepest , sincerest and heartfelt condolences to his family.

NBN news confirmed it was Country Capital Flight Centre. Had the pleasure of flying FIN during my time up there. An absolute tragedy, great bunch of people there.

My thoughts are with Bill Bryant & staff, and family and friends of the Pilot.

Just spoken a mate in T'worth (who is a TW based pilot ) and he confirmed FIN ( ex Adventure Air ) is now owned by Crane Air but the a/c is maintained by Country Capital. Believed to engine failure on t/o at TW.
Condolences to all involved.

Condolences to those involved

This seems to be happening more and more often these days. EFATO in light twins, that is.

What's the go with that? Just equipment getting older, coincidence, inexperienced twin pilots or a combination of all three?

Very sad news on all accounts though, and hopefully there will be lessons to be learned.

Belived to be EFATO??? Has this been confermed?
Wasn't there only one on board? I would have thought a C-310 would perform at that weight....

Capt Fathom:
well i guss i am a bit confused. Trousersnake said that it was belived to a be an EFATO. And as far as I am aware there was only one person onboard. I thought that a C-310 would perfom quite well on one engine with only one person onboard, unless it was full to the gunels with frieght. i.e the EFATO rumour doesn't add up, or would be a shame to learn that an EFATO took this young mans life..............

Tragic loss of life...

I knew the pilot and watched and heard his last moments. Hope I never have to be witness to such a tragedy again.

Let us not pass judgement on this young man. It could happen to any of us. I think it might be telling that the 6pm NBN news mentioned that pilot error was not to blame.

Full sympathies to the co-workers and family - especially the new wife...

I will remember every time I take off on 30L and turn downwind - RIP mate...

Without wishing to prejudice anything and without resorting quoting NBN (!)...

...local sources suggest there was no EFATO but a flight control issue.

Only spoke to the young bloke once or twice but a really nice guy by first impressions and all reports. Tragic loss.

Obviously certain people didn't get my inference at all. I was simply referring to NBN to point out the fact that there are people out there who believe pilot error was not to blame - and not without reason. Those reasons are best left to the investigators to research...

Captain Nomad - Sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it was like for you to watch a friend die.
To his family - I only knew him briefly but 'pom' will always be remembered with a smile.
