As a matter of interest wouldn't you need an FAA licence to be "endorsed" in the US? Not difficult to obtain I guess but another step in the process. If he is moving to Australia then he may as well do the training here.

The Alteon sim is block booked until September October. There is no space for Self Sponsered students. JetStar and Freedom have block booked it. Next best sim is the US as the guy mentioned above. Here are my research Prices.
Alteon Brisbane $33,550.00 aud ( no change booked out till Sep2005)
Pan Am $12,500.00USD
PREMAIR-$12,500.00USD
ALTEON UK 13,000 STIRLING
GECAT UK 15,000 STIRLING
The rest of the Sims around Asia are either booked out or dont offer self sponsered ratings. US is really the only economic answer at this stage.
New Alteon Simcentre to be opened in Singapore this year not sure if they will offer training to foreign self sponsered PILOTS.

Remember reading in another thread that you have to go through a lot of security checks now to train in the US, and if you are not rated and current on equipment above 12,500 lb you needed a fingerprint check done also.
You would not be able to bring the rating back to Oz unless it was on a licence with significant training records to show you have completed a training syllabus that CASA is happy with.
