Question QF DEP entry after QF Cadet application failed

Just wondering how many pilots out there working for Qantas initially applied as cadets - failed - but then got in as a direct entry pilot later down the line??

I wonder how much the pilot recruitment panel screen over previous attempts at the stage 1 or stage 2 process??

Anyway out there got an idea??

Cheers

Mr G.

Mr G, I know of at least three people in that boat. I don't think it rated a mention. In fact, there is a good chance that a lot of people aged 33-37(ish) applied for the early '90s course and didn't make it then only to make it into QF about '95, '96, '97 (or later!) as direct entry after doing THY themselves.

I have no idea how the cadetship application impacts on later applications.

There are also numerous pilots that have failed the cadet application process, and succeeded the following year. Just make sure you put right whatever it was you think got you last time

Hi Lancer,

Do you mean they succeeded in the Cadetship after they failed the first time or succeeded in Direct Entry after failing cadetship? Thanks.

Both. The rest is just me taking up space to ensure the post gets in otherwise it'd be too short!

Your cadetship program appication and status is kept in your file but I was told it is not assessed or will impact your application as direct entry.

cadets

i know of two people who made it to the cadet panel interview for level one but failed. they applied again the following year for level one but were not even offered a chance to attempt the psych tests. having said that, i know of many people who have not passed the psych tests and were offered another chance the following year.

so if you fail the cadet interview you have blown your chances of becomming a cadet, but i dont know if it is the same for direct entry. does anyone out there know of people who have failed a qantas interview (cadet or DE) and been offered a second chance later???

I know of at least one guy who was knocked back twice, with the required extra stint in GA, before being accepted third time around.
Once he got in, there was no holding him back & he managed to transtition across to the 767 after a very short stint as a 744 SO, where he's now flying as an FO. Giddy up

lol. Got me in one lads. Last I knew it had to be more than a 15 character post for it to get in. Alas, the post with 'Keg' and then the following one with 'short' describes to a tee!

Talking

Ah, Keg, there's a bit of a trick to it - which obviously Torres and a few others have worked out!

Not me
This is the best I can come up with. Another half hour wasted on pprune during a nice summers day.

Only half an hour? That's great. My wife would be extremely happy if I could limit myself to 30mins on proon.
