Middle end of commercial aviation

Hi, just wanting to start a thread of the small jet sector of SE asia and pacific. Having read an article in 'Aircraft and Aerospace" (MAY 2004).

Boeing forecast the need for 24,300 new jets from now until 2023. WOW!!

In the OZ, NZ and South pacific they forecast 700 new airliners, with a expanding market of small regional jets (161 units). WOW !!

So this means that many of todays turboprops will eventually be replaced by more advanced and efficient small jets, designed for this market. Additionally, we could see the opening of new markets with better and more economical jets. Lets face it ANY passenger preferes to travel in a JET than in a noisy bread box.

The Boeing study didn't mention the emerging business aviation sector. We all know that it is big in the U.S. With changing security and airline services, we may see more demand for private transport. Additionally, the prices for 'microjets' and corporate jets is becoming more and more affordable.

To mind there are a number of new manufacturers entering this market. There a a number of U.S companies building corporate and microjets, yet there are some non-U.S manufacturers including HONDA in Asia and some Europian companies.

YOUR thoughts ??
