FAA medical in NZ

Ki ora

Anyone know where I can do an initial class 1 FAA medical in NZ?

Also has anyone converted a NZ CPL to FAA equivalant? I would be interested in emailing you some questions.

Cheers

Hey Irish,

Dr. Bill is a good doc and fully recommended.

I haven't converted to a FAA licence but have heard that the one off, all subject encompassing CPL exam will have to be completed (approx. 200 q's I think), and the CPL flight test is required as well, in a "complex" a/c ( CSU, retractable, >200hp ??).

Cheers

If you are wanting an FAA medical in order to convert your CPL etc. don't bother, wait until you go to the US.

They are very easy to obtain there and only US $100- 150. Much cheaper than NZ.

License conversion is easy just look up the FAA website.

Cheers!

Thanks all. I spoke to the man himself this morning. Nice and helpful chap.

Its only $180 for the initial so thats quite cheap! Unlike the NZ Class 1 you do not need the xray, audiometry or specialist eye report. Just a questionnaire and ECG.

Sweet as
